Great stuff, Tony. I had the profound pleasure of seeing Spiritualized on their first three US tours, and of interviewing/hanging out in the studio with Jason while he was mixing Ladies & Gentlemen. None of their records since then have "done it for me" like the first three, and I've never wanted to somehow tarnish the memories of those three shows I saw by seeing them again... but I'm glad to know they still deliver the goods in concert.
Dan, I am envious of you being in the studio during Ladies & Gentlemen. Interestingly, I have never even met Jason... I did help edit a book about Spacemen 3 and we promoted Spectrum once at Limelight, but Jason I have been able to just appreciate from a distance, as a fan - though I would not turn down the opportunity to hang as you did! I mean, hanging out in the studio while a classic album gets made has to be cool, right?
I don't think any memories would be tainted by seeing them live again, on which note I need to get back to my second part of this! Cheers.
This is a fantastic read Tony - and boy can I relate having seen Spiritualized more than any other band, while also having countless late night tales, some remember, more often some not- with these albums as the soundtrack- the highs and lows- with a group of friends watching the sunrise or shivering alone in a cold basement.
Thanks Matt, I had a few other people reach out to me on otehr platforms and say much the same. We all have our choices for music that accompanies our lives, but there is something specific about SPiritualized that works/worked for those late nights (shifted to past tense as a late night these days is one that goes beyond the old British pub-closing time!). Glad the article connected.
Music can connect us to such a profound spiritual level. Certain bands and music can become our life’s soundtrack. The Basilica gig was the first time I’ve ever seen the band. Their concert definitely connected with me on such a level. Thank you for sharing your spiritual journey with Spiritualized®.
Thanks Dusty - based on your experience and that of Josh, who you met with me at Basilica, it's never too late to attend your first Spiritualized show. May there be many more!

Absolutely wonderful read. Adore Spiritualized. Captures their essence and impact perfectly. Thank you Tony!
Spellbound. A world I knew nothing about. Can't wait for the next installment.
