Glad to hear the 90th celebrations went well ! Nice to see a pic of the City ground too (my hometown!). Cheers!

Thank you for giving space to Gems. 'I'm a Boy' is a great cover, brilliant work by yourself and Paula.

Magazines - I used to buy many, when my disposable income was rather higher than now. But you're right, somehow there are as many music publications as ever, just no inkies (in the seventies I bought NME every week, and usually Sounds and Melody Maker too). Now I have an app that aggregates many mags and newspapers for a tenner a month - problem is, reading off a screen isn't as enjoyable.

Cheers Ian, I share your viewpoint. Us Substackers are of course on the screen only, but for me I love flicking through newspapers and magazines looking for the article I didn't know I was looking for.

The irony struck me as I was writing - anyway, screens are where we are (time for special computer glasses for me, I think).

I still like to grab a copy of Mojo when I'm back in Europe - yes the "from the past" based articles but also the new releases and new band coverage is good too. Electronic Sound Magazine and Disco Pogo are both rarely found, but excellent mags.

Love the culture sections of the weekend newspapers in the UK & Ireland, find the US ones to be so less music focused, and when they are it's rarely stuff I'm interested in.

Just realized what the actual question was! (though it was which mags do you like!) Guess the odd one out is The Wire as it's not a "heritage" or "oldies" based mag?

Hey Frankie, as a fellow expat that's a reasonable assessment of the differences. And your answer is one of those I noticed straight away and which plays into my sese that the music press is thriving primarily in that legacy/oldies market. Songlines, the international magazine, is also au courant as they say, but I think they are the only ones in that picture.
